
The 65th Venice International Film Festival, organised by the Venice Biennale, takes place at Venice Lido from August 27th to September 6th 2008.
The aim of the Festival is to encourage the awareness and the promotion of all the various aspects of international cinema as art, entertainment and industry, in a spirit of freedom and tolerance.

The Third European Conference of Local Authorities for Peace in the Middle East will take place in Venice, at the prestigious Doge's Palace in St. Mark's Square, from Thursday 25 to Saturday 27 September 2008, with the aim of strengthening and extending the engagement of the European Local Authorities in promoting the success of the peace negotiations. The slogan of the Conference is "Let's make peace in the Middle East. Let's rebuild hope". In Venice, the European Local Authorities will find evidence to know and understand, tools to work, projects to implement and relationships to cultivate. The objective is to define a concrete action plan to be realized over the next two years.

Applications now being accepted for the 3rd International Art Prize "Arte Laguna", the international contest aimed at the promotion of Contemporary Art. The Prize is open to all artists, without any limits of age, sex, nationality or other qualification. The Prize is subdivided in three sections: painting, sculpture, and photographic art. Artists can participate with one or two artworks per each section. The absolute winners of the three section will receive a 4,500.00 Euro Cash Prize. Finalists artworks will be exposed in very important expositive settings in Venice. The application deadline fot the Prize is August 28.
